About Me

Hi y'all! My name is Laura and am the brains to MyFit Life by Laura. I'm 38 years old married and am a mommy of two boys, 17 and 6. We love everything outdoors and love to travel.

I'm a certified PT through NASM (National Association of Sports Medicine) and have been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. I have experience in everything from personal training, group fitness (Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, Sh'bam, Group Cycle, Silver Sneakers, and Water Aerobics), functional train, crossfit, and OLY lifting.

My fitness journey started shortly after having my first child. I gain a little over 102 pounds on a frame that was accustomed to being 115lbs. Knowing I was having a baby I didn't think much of it and figured I'd worry about losing the weight after I delivered him. Little did I know it was easier said than done. About 3 months after having my baby I headed to my closet to put on my pre-baby jeans. They wouldn't even go up my calf! I broke down and cried for what felt like a lifetime. Seating there in my closet I realized that crying wasn't going to help me get back into shape. The tears weren't going to magically make 100 lbs go away. The only one that could do that was me. I had the power and ability to cry or do something about it. So, I set out on a mission to find myself in fitness...and I did!

The goal was to start small and just increase my activity on a daily basis. I started with walking. Then baby Devon would go in a stroller rain or shine and we would go for a walk. Then I graduated to walk/run. I then progressed to weights and nutrition and the rest is history. I was able to get down to my original weight with in a year. The result fueled me in a way nothing ever did and so I decided to help others. Others that not only didn't know where to start but lacked the motivation for themselves.

I'm not here to tell you it'll be easy and it won't require time and effort. I'm here to tell you it's going to be hard and you'll want to quit but I'm also here to tell you it's worth every drop of sweat, every tear you shed because in the end the only one you're doing it for is YOU! Having a source of motivation and encouragement is sometimes all that is needed to get started. I know that with the right tools and resources you too can get there! Trust the process and fall in love with the journey because you only have one body this lifetime and well that body can do AMAZING things when you set your mind to it!
